We welcome David Anderson, former federal Environment
Minister, to the pages of The Canadian Fly Fisher. David,
drawing upon his extensive experience of the politics of the
environment and his passion for fly fishing, will comment on
environmental issues and their potential impact on fish and
fish habitat. In this, his first of a series of columns, he
summarizes the current situation in the investigation into the
relationships between aquaculture and excessive sea louse
counts on young pink salmon on Vancouver Island.
Since retiring from federal politics, David lives with his
wife and family on Vancouver Island, where, among other
things, he enthusiastically fly fishes for steelhead and
Pacific salmon. You can find David's articles which have
appeared so far in our magazine by clicking on the links

Credit Valley Conservation’s angler
survey is now live!
Credit Valley Conservation is trying to determine the value of
the Credit fishery by evaluating the travel cost of anglers,
and their willingness to pay for fish and fish habitat, as
well as keeping the Credit River healthy. That means
evaluating the direct and indirect economic impacts of the
Credit River fishery. Anglers are asked to complete an online
angling survey which assesses their angling behaviour, fishing
expenditures, and demographic data. As well the survey uses an
innovative angling diary to get feedback from anglers on their
personal fishing experiences, and allows them to offer CVC
feedback, comments and concerns on how to improve the fishery,
and protect the valuable resources of the River. The deadline
for gathering this valuable input is just a few weeks away so
please respond ASAP
The survey is now available and only a click away:
